Iain brings vital industry experience—spanning defence, nuclear science, aviation, and forensic safety—providing students with a real-world perspective on workplace hazards and safety responsibilities. He has a passion for education and values to protecting vulnerable and inexperienced workers. Iain brings a dynamic, engaging approach to WHS education that resonates with young learners and helps prepare them for the realities of modern workplaces.

Iain is currently working as a Work Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO). In this role he provides expert safety guidance to one of Australia’s most complex and high-risk environments, including the OPAL Nuclear Reactor, site-wide facility maintenance operations, and technical support workshops. Iain has years of practical application of high-level safety standards in radiological, laboratory, and industrial settings, and ensures best practices are maintained across all operations.
Iain has served in the Australian Defence Force for over 13 years. There, he has gained a wealth of experience gained from working in high-pressure and safety-critical roles. His military career included positions as an Aircraft Structural Fitter and Special Operations Engineer, where he developed skills in leadership, technical problem-solving, and risk mitigation in dynamic environments. These roles often demanded both independent judgment and the ability to lead small, specialised teams.
